Pediatric Primary Care, 4e (Burns, Pediatric Primary Care)Pediatric Primary Care, 4e (Burns, Pediatric Primary Care) by Catherine E. Burns PhD RN CPNP-PC FAAN
Buy new: $92.14 / Used from: $73.00
Gives you the relevant and pertinent information without all the wordy explanations. Just enough information to be very useful, but not too much to make it tedious. I've had several peds books, all of which I was fairly disappointed with the set up, usability, content, etc. But, this one was absolutely worth the money. Covers assessment, differentials, treatment plans, emergent dx considerations.

Lifesaver. Who knew such a plain, unimpressive looking book could have so much valuable, usable information. Hopefully the new edition comes out soon, as this one is a little dated as med texts go. I've seen this book in nearly every practice site I've done clinicals in.....and they are well-used!

Contraceptive TechnologyContraceptive Technology

This is THE book to help you cipher through the world of gyn endocrinology and hormonal therapy. Breaks down the complexities of the female systems into understandable language, and gives excellent information for practice. Highly recommended. Although this isn't a replacement for GYN textbooks, I have definitely gotten more use out of it than them!
Managing Contraceptive Pill PatientsManaging Contraceptive Pill Patients by Richard P. Dickey

Buy this book. You will not regret it. This along with the contraceptive technology book have been among the top textbook purchases of graduate school. Breaks down OCP's into a useful chart, and describes which pills to use to manage different symptoms, menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, acne, etc. and allows you to educate your patients of the mechanism of OCP's.
